Design Electric was founded by Kenneth O. Smith in 1982 as a sole proprietorship. At the time, Mr. Smith had 20 years of experience in the industry. His wife Eunice Smith and his daughter Cathy Smith played a large part in getting Design Electric launched to become a success. Eunice Smith managed accounts payable and receivables as well as other aspects of the daily office functions and Cathy Smith managed all the estimating. In January of 1983, Design Electric was incorporated. Kenneth and Eunice's son Greg worked his way up through the company as an apprentice and is now President of Design Electric Inc. and an Inside Board Member.
